The province has moved into Step 2 – matches can meet indoors again

Updated June 30, 2021

Effective today, and only if you feel comfortable, matches are permitted to meet indoors as long as no more than five people are gathering and everyone is able to stay two metres apart during the visit.

Rides in cars are also now permitted as long as everyone in the vehicle is wearing a mask.

Whether indoors or out, masks are required when you are not able to stay two meters apart.

This change is in accordance with Step 2 of the Ontario government’s three-step Roadmap to Reopen. Step 2 also allows for most of the summer activities you like to do (with restrictions).

Happy summer!

Many children and youth in Canada struggle with societal barriers and face adversities in their lives, but with the support of mentors, youth can reach their full potential.

Adapting to provide mentoring for our children youth

Big Brothers Big Sisters program has remained active since the Covid-19 pandemic began in March 2020. There have been several changes to the program as we adapt to the times.

Community-based matches have found new ways to stay connected. Matches are keeping in touch via video chat, texting or phone calls. They have been doing crafts, reading books, playing games, chatting and other creative ways to stay connected when they cannot be together in person.

In-School Mentoring is still being offered at local schools. We are looking for more volunteers who are willing to go into schools so we can offer more programming to children in the community. These sessions are in person at the school, with safety protocols put in place. We offer one on one programs and group programs.

We are always accepting new volunteers and new families!

Mentors Can Ignite the Power and Potential of Youth

Mentoring is a rewarding experience for both the Big and Little, but don’t just take our word for it.  Here are testimonials from some of our local matches!
